Life

I haven't blogged lately because life has been crazy! Here are some of the highlights.

We went on vacation to Avila Beach for a week with my parents at the beginning of the month. It was a lot of fun to go have some clam chowder at the Splash Cafe in Pismo Beach, walk the pier and Ethan even walked halfway to the ocean on the beach with Ken.

We played at the Children's Museum while my mom & dad watched Lila. It was nice to have some time with Ethan where he had our undivided attention (aside from the huge tantrum he threw when it was time to go). While we were there we all went swimming. It was Lila's first time in the water and Ethan's first time with floaties on. He preferred the kiddie pool rather than the adult pool.

Our sleeping arrangements were interesting since the roll away bed wouldn't fit in the bedroom we had to improvise. We put a comforter on the floor at the foot of our huge king sized bed and Ethan slept there each night. Lila took Ethan's usual spot in the pack 'n play in the bathroom. Unfortunately, we didn't get much sleep in the hotel since Lila's mouth decided that it was the perfect time to give her two bottom teeth. She was up at least 3x a night and sometimes more often.

In June, Lila turned 6 months old! She is rolling and I think she'll be crawling within a month. She is starting to scoot and turn herself around in a circle. She's excited about it. Her grin and her eyes are two of her best physical features. The two work together to make you laugh and smile at the same time. She is a very happy baby.

This month Ethan will be starting potty training (I'm really dreading this). At almost 3 1/2 it's time to really make this happen. As much as I dread it, I know it has to be done and he's spent several months past, when we should have done this, in diapers. Ethan is continuing to test his boundaries and we are in the process of working with him to provide expectations and consequences.

I think that's all that happened this month. I have to go get Lila up from her nap.
